Google just launched a free AI dictation app that fixes your speech – and it even works offline

Google has quietly introduced “Google AI Edge Eloquent,” a new AI-powered dictation app available for free on iOS. This app utilizes on-device AI models, known as Gemma models, enabling it to transcribe spoken language into polished, professional text without needing an internet connection. With privacy increasingly important to users, Edge Eloquent’s offline functionality ensures that sensitive speech data remains local on the device, enhancing user privacy and security.

The app is designed to clean up speech in real time by removing filler words and improving the flow of dictation, which makes it particularly useful for professionals and content creators aiming for clearer transcription. Users see live transcriptions with accompanying waveforms and can pause recordings as needed. While Google AI Edge Eloquent is currently available only on Apple’s App Store, it represents Google’s growing focus on edge AI technology, branded under the “AI Edge” banner, which emphasizes powerful AI running locally on devices to reduce reliance on cloud servers.

This launch positions Google alongside other AI dictation solutions like Wispr Flow and SuperWhisper, which are gaining traction as speech-to-text models become more accurate and user-friendly.
