India’s white-collar job market is poised for sustained growth in the first half of 2026, with 76% of recruiters anticipating the creation of new jobs rather than just filling existing vacancies. This marks a 4 percentage point increase from the previous half-year period, highlighting a broadly optimistic hiring environment across multiple sectors. Leading the expansion are the healthcare and manufacturing industries, each showing significantly increased hiring intent. Approximately 45% of recruiters in these sectors expect elevated activity, suggesting a robust demand for fresh talent. The IT sector also continues to contribute strongly to job creation, especially for mid-level professionals with four to seven years of experience. In healthcare, there is notable demand for entry-level candidates, with 65% of recruiters seeking talent with zero to three years of experience.
The survey also reflects an evolving perspective on artificial intelligence (AI) within the job market. While earlier surveys indicated 13% of recruiters expecting AI to drive new roles, this figure has grown to 18%, concentrated mainly in IT, analytics, and marketing fields. This shift implies that AI is increasingly viewed as an enabler of opportunity rather than a job displacer. Consequently, upskilling and reskilling around AI competencies are becoming important components of recruitment strategies. This positive hiring outlook signals confidence in India’s economic sectors and underscores the dynamic intersection between technology adoption and workforce expansion moving into 2026.
