Disease mapping, drone-aided farming & punugulu-Bill Gates’ day out with ‘friend’ Chandrababu

During his visit to Andhra Pradesh as part of his trip for the AI Summit in New Delhi, Bill Gates engaged in activities showcasing advanced technology applications in agriculture and healthcare. Gates, the chairman of the Gates Foundation, toured the Real-Time Governance System (RTGS) Centre in Guntur district and commended the state’s efforts to integrate AI into governance and service delivery. Under the leadership of Chandrababu Naidu, Andhra Pradesh is pioneering AI-driven initiatives including disease mapping and drone-aided natural farming, notably demonstrated at a farm near Undavalli village. Gates witnessed drone-based pesticide spraying and AI-powered soil testing methods firsthand, alongside the innovative A.P. Agriculture Information Management System that uses AI to identify crop pests from photographs. Naidu’s vision also includes specialized technology hubs like Visakhapatnam as a Data-AI City and Orvakal as a Drone City, highlighting the region’s commitment to leveraging cutting-edge tech for economic growth and sustainability.
