Globe Telecom reported that it saved over ₱125 million on electricity costs in 2024 by deploying artificial intelligence (AI) technologies for energy management across its network infrastructure and facilities. The telco implemented AI tools on nearly 20,000 network elements nationwide, which complemented its existing energy management programs to enhance operational efficiency and reduce expenses. One key application involved optimizing cooling systems using Globe’s External Digital Demand Response Technology device. This technology intelligently regulates piping-system cooling, achieving annual energy savings of 20% to 30%. These AI-driven interventions helped Globe reduce electricity usage by approximately 11.3 million kilowatt-hours in 2024. The company views these efforts as part of a broader strategic commitment to building a more cost-efficient and environmentally sustainable network. By leveraging AI, Globe not only lowers its operational costs but also reduces its environmental footprint, aligning with global trends where telecom companies integrate AI solutions to optimize resources and reduce emissions. This demonstrates how AI adoption in telecom infrastructure can drive substantial financial savings while supporting sustainability initiatives, underscoring the growing role of AI in operational excellence and environmental responsibility in the sector.
