Moonpig has reported a 6.7% increase in sales, reaching £169 million for the six months ending in October 2024, a growth partly credited to its strategic use of artificial intelligence. Approximately half of the company’s card purchases during this period incorporated AI features, which were used to assist customers in designing cards, personalizing messages, and resolving queries more efficiently. This adoption of AI-driven personalization has enhanced customer experience, fueling higher order frequency and average order values.
The company’s AI tools allow buyers to create more tailored and meaningful greeting cards, strengthening customer engagement and loyalty in the competitive online cards and gifts market. While Moonpig posted a loss before tax overall—mainly due to a significant write-down in its Experiences gift business acquired in 2022—the core Moonpig greeting card business demonstrated resilience. Active subscriptions to Moonpig and its sister platform Greetz Plus surged to 750,000 from 200,000 the previous year, underpinned by robust use of AI-powered personalization.
Moonpig’s results highlight how innovations in AI can drive revenue growth and improve margins by enhancing product customization and customer interaction. This aligns with ongoing trends where personalized digital experiences are essential to differentiating brands and meeting evolving consumer expectations in e-commerce and gift retail sectors.
